ForewordAs you may have guessed, this is the personal web site of Georgios Papaioannou, that is... well, me. Due to the fact that I try very hard to keep business and leasure strictly apart - and majestically and very consistently fail to do so - I will at least pretend that this is the case. So, if you would like to learn more about my research, the computer graphics team of the Athens University of Economics and Business or download papers, resources, demos, source code etc, this is not the right place. For all of the above, please visit the AUEB Computer Graphics Group web site. For all non-academic and research activities of mine (alas, here I lie again), please free to browse through this site.
About meI was born in Athens, Greece in 1974. I received a BSc in Computer Science in 1996 and a PhD degree in Computer Graphics and Pattern Recognition in 2001, both from the University of Athens, Greece. Since 1997, I have worked as a research fellow in many research and development projects and from 2002 till 2007 I have been a virtual reality engineer at the Foundation of the Hellenic World. I have been teaching elementary and advanced computer graphics, programming and human-computer interaction courses since 2002. Currently I am an assistant professor at the Department of Informatics of the Athens University of Economics and Business. My research is focused on real-time computer graphics algorithms, photorealistic rendering, virtual reality and three-dimensional pattern recognition, and I am also a member of IEEE, ACM, Eurographics and SIGGRAPH.
